Ian is a partner at Plural, the early-stage investment fund that backs the most ambitious founders on a mission to change the world through technology. He's led investments in Proxima Fusion, which is developing fusion power plants based on the stellarator concept, and Unitary, which develops context-aware AI to detect harmful content and keep platforms safe, among other companies. Before joining Plural, Ian co-founded Songkick and was a prolific angel investor. Among his other roles, Ian is chair of the AI Safety Institute, following his part-time role chairing the UK government’s £100m taskforce to invest in state capacity around AI safety.
