Niek Lopes Cardozo is a researcher and educator who is active in science policy and who has held a long time interest in climate change and the energy transition. Having directed the Dutch fusion research programme he is now full professor of the Science and Technology of Nuclear Fusion at Eindhoven University of Technology where he focuses on the training of the new generation of fusion engineers. In recent years his research has focused on the socio- and techno-economics of the energy transition, and the potential role of fusion energy.
