Rafel established and leads the data science team at First Light, supporting the company's numerical modelling, target design and experimental programmes using state-of-the-art statistical, machine learning and AI techniques. Rafel has a background in applied mathematics and 20 years of experience combining computational models with data to deliver real world insight. He has broad experience, having held both academic and corporate positions. Prior to joining First Light he was lead developer of the statistical core of an industrial strength data assimilation and uncertainty analysis software package specialised for use in sub-surface applications.
